Autism Awareness In Healthcare

This online training was produced in 2019 in conjunction with Tallaght University Hospital & funded by the Nursing & Midwifery Planning & Development Unit - Dublin South, Kildare & Wicklow. This training course provides training about autism directly aimed at healthcare professionals interacting with autistic children and adults in acute hospital settings. It aims to increase medical practitioner & professional knowledge about autism to support autistic patients attending adult & children’s services at hospitals nationwide to have their specific access needs accommodated, & for staff to provide a calmer experience for autistic patients. Note: This training often uses person-first language to describe autistic people, & includes some professional views that reflect a medicalised view of autism, including references to behaviour.
